Legendary actor Gene Hackman has died. He was 95.
The news regarding his death is quite shocking. According to reports, Hackman, his wife Betsy Arakawa and their dog were all found dead in their home in Santa Fe, New Mexico on Thursday. It is suspected that they had died a day before on Wednesday.
The Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office released a statement saying no foul play was involved:
“We can confirm that both Gene Hackman and his wife were found deceased Wednesday afternoon at their residence on Sunset Trail. This is an active investigation — however, at this time we do not believe that foul play was a factor.”
Though one dog died, their two other dogs are still alive.
According to TMZ, Hackman’s daughter Elizabeth Jean Hackman says the family suspects carbon monoxide poisoning could be at fault.
Arakawa was 64 years old.
Gene Hackman won two Academy Awards:
- Best Actor for “The French Connection” in 1971
- Best Supporting Actor for “Unforgiven” in 1992
I remember him however as Lex Luthor in “Superman” and Senator Kevin Keeley in “The Birdcage”.
