Country music superstar Toby Keith announced on Twitter today that he was diagnosed with stomach cancer last fall, and has been getting treatment for the last 6 months.
Here’s his shocking announcement:
Last fall I was diagnosed with stomach cancer. I’ve spent the last 6 months receiving chemo, radiation and surgery. So far, so good. I need time to breathe, recover and relax. I am looking forward to spending this time with my family. But I will see the fans sooner than later. I can’t wait. -T

It sounds like he’s going to be fine but this is such distressing news! Stomach cancer is no joke. According to the American Cancer Society, this type of cancer has an overall 5-year survival rate of 32%, although one type, “localized” (where the cancer has not spread to other parts of the body), has a 70% survival rate. Fingers-crossed that’s what Toby Keith is dealing with.
