Mary Alice dead at 85

Mary Alice has died. She was 85. According to the NYPD, Alice died of natural causes at her home in New York.

Viola Davis called Alice “one of the greatest actresses of all time” as tributes poured in on social media.

Mary Alice won a Tony Award in 1987 for her portrayal of Rose Maxson in “Fences”. She also won an Emmy Award in 1997 for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for “I’ll Fly Away.”

To many people however, she was “Lettie” in the hit sitcom “A Different World” starring Lisa Bonet and The Oracle in the “Matrix” series (where she replaced Gloria Foster who died after the first movie).
