Warner Bros. Pictures has released the first official trailer for “The Matrix Resurrections” directed by Lana Wachowski.
The fourth film in “The Matrix” franchise features the return of Neo (Keanu Reeves) and Trinity (Carrie-Ann Moss).
It also stars Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as a younger Morpheus (we think) and Jessica Henwick as another Trinity (we think). Jonathan Groff, Neil Patrick Harris, Christina Ricci and Priyanka Chopra Jonas are also listed in the credits. Jada Pinkett Smith reprises her role as Niobe (we think).

There’s a lot of hype about this movie because of the success of the original. The sequels left me disappointed personally but they also galvanized the die-hard fans so there’s still a lot of buzz.
The all-black trenchcoat all guns blazing look arguably inspired some mass shootings in America and the “red pill blue pill” paradigm has been co-opted by the QAnon conspiracy wackos, so I’m on the fence regarding what this franchise really means.
“The Matrix Resurrections” comes out in theaters and HBO Max on Decemeber 22, 2021.
I will probably just stream it.
